New Jobs Report Shows Value of Solar Energy to U.S. Economy

WASHINGTON, DC - Growing at an annual rate of more than 20 percent – far outpacing the growth of the overall U.S. economy, a new report released today shows that the U.S. solar industry added more than 31,000 jobs in 2014, bringing total employment in the sector to 173,807 workers.  The results were released by The Solar Foundation (TSF), a widely-respected, non-profit organization.

DOE Secretary, Senate Majority Leader Tout Solar's Benefits

LAS VEGAS, NV – Calling solar "critical to the United States" when it comes to meeting its future carbon reduction goals, Department of Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz today delivered the keynote address at Solar Power International (SPI), the largest solar trade show in America, co-sponsored by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). "Cost reduction, as we have seen dramatically in solar energy, is very much a part of shaping our clean energy future," Moniz said. "We've seen costs of modules decline by nearly 80 percent.

SEIA Urges Gov. Kasich to Veto RPS Freeze

Warning that it will have a chilling effect on renewable energy development in Ohio, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is urging Gov. John Kasich to veto a bill that would freeze the state’s renewable energy and energy efficiency mandates. The bill, SB 310, passed the General Assembly on May 28 but has not yet reached the governor’s desk.
